We have a rental property in Pawleys Island and regularly visit during the summer each year. We decided to try Pastaria 811 for our anniversary the second week in July 2013 as my In-Laws were looking for a restaurant to take us to for dinner. The place was extremely busy and we had a 45 minute wait. After being seated it took about 20 minutes to be waited on. We put in our orders and proceeded to wait an additional 30 minutes before the waiter advised the kitchen was backed up and our food would be out shortly. We proceeded to wait an additional 30 minutes before the waiter advised that our food would be out shortly. After waiting an additional 30 minutes I spoke to the Manager who advised that the kitchen was short handed and that our food would be out shortly. We again waited another 30 minutes before our food arrived. During the wait I overheard two of the bus boys berating a large group/table that had just left. This group has also apparently received and complained about the service. The food was good but not worth the 45 minute wait to be seated and the 2+ hour wait for the food to be served. I spoke to the manager after our meal and advised that a 2 + hour wait to be served was horrible. She again explained that the kitchen was backed up and went on to rudely advise that the service I was wrong and the service was not horrible. I also mentioned that the bus boys had just spoken rudely about the table that had just left. She did not once offer to discount our meal or offer anything in exchange for the service received. This place came highly recommended by several locals however I would not recommend them to any of my rental guests. They really need a lesson in customer service.

Not really much to say. It's Italian. There's pizza, pasta, and some wines or something. It was good, but not amazing. I would eat here again, but I'm not going to make any special accommodations to get myself here. If you're feeling like some Italian in a pinch, go for it! The home made bread that they bring to the table is quite tasty and the service was exceptional.

If you are looking for Italian food in the Pawley's Island area, look no further. This place has a great menu (I recommend the Seafood Mac and Cheese), wine selection (I recommend the Allure Sparkling Moscato) and 'Old World' atmosphere. The service was good. We had a party of 10 and everything went great. Their fresh bread was delicious, their appetizer salad WITH HOUSE DRESSING (very important) was amazing and the selection of entrees are plentiful. The desserts were some of the best I have had. Ever. We sampled the Tiramisu, Canoli and THE ICE CREAM TO END ALL ICE CREAMS, Pecan Pie ice cream. This stuff was out of this world! It is ice cream (obviously) but there are layers of magic and yummy stuff that I cannot explain. Eat here and I can promise you will leave satisfied in all areas!

Pastaria 811 has been a frequent spot of my family every summer for the last 10+ years. The restaurant used to be located inside a mini mall but expanded to a stand alone restaurant not far from the original location a few years ago. I have had many things on the menu from appetizers, pasta, and their pizza. It has been top notch for many years. I will admit I wasn't quite as happy in June 2015, but I believe I was the only one in the group. They start with their house salad which is amazing. It typically comes with a house balsamic dressing for years and now they also offer a Gorgonzola dressing as well. I have always chosen the house balsamic which is fantastic. This year, my sister in law who was sitting next to me ordered the Gorgonzola and said it was also really good. What makes the salad for us is the marinated, diced, roasted tomatoes they put on top of the salad. YuM!! The pasta is always great. I am especially a fan of the dishes with seafood. They are always super fresh and delicious. The pizza is typically on point as well. The dough is fresh and toppings are plentiful. This past trip my nephews split a kids cheese pizza and it was more like a marinara pie, lacking in cheese, but they still seemed to love it which is all that matters. I ordered a veal and sausage stew which has been my least favorite at this restaurant, but also a new dish. Maybe I should have stayed with a classic! My dad had his lasagna as always, which is always good, my bothers had veal, and the other seafood risotto. My mother had shrimp and veggie Alfredo and sister in law had pasta with mussels. Everyone was super pleased with the food. The service was also great as always! If you are in the Pawleys area and looking for a consistently great meal; with generous portions, great service, along with a small price tag, this is a great place to try!

The appetizer special was fresh bread with garlic purée. The purée was baked in a small casserole dish with cheese. The cheese was browned with crispy edges. Delicious! We ordered the thin crust, pesto, grilled chicken, spinach, feta cheese pizza for dinner. The thing was so big, it lapped over the sides of the serving dish. Seriously, it was over 15" - and no, we could not finish it. Every bite was an explosion of flavor, made all the better by the table side fresh grated parmesan cheese. Would we come here again? In a skinny minute! I think we may have to push the car home to work it off. Definitely worth finding this place!!

The lunch specials are a great deal. For $6.95 you get Bread, a house salad and a main dish. It's not the best italian food I've eaten but you its not bad either. I don't think I'd go for dinner with the higher prices but, the lunch is a great deal. Waitress was also very nice.

Qualifier: we live in upstate NY and and are lucky to be surrounded by amazing pizza. This is among the best NY style thin crust pie we've ever had. For carry out pizzas are wrapped in parchment paper to keep them crisp. Awkward but it works. The salads were out of the garden fresh. Loaf of fresh bread was thrown in for good measure. Crusty on the outside and soft in the middle. This place is legit and we can't wait to actually eat there and sample entrees. Carry out is super simple, with a door and parking in the back. A couple of really friendly employees were right there to handle the transaction and fetch the food. If there was a six star rating, I'd bestow it.

Outstanding dinner! Food and Service were first-rate. Asked our waitress to recommend a wine that was not dry (as most Italian wines are) and she readily admitted she did not know much about wine and offered to bring the bartender over. The bartender readily agreed about the dryness issue and offered to bring over a couple of samples. Neither worked for me but I settled on a nice cabernet sauvignon, and she made a helpful recommendation to try elsewhere even though they did not carry it. That's good service. Our waitress was delightful. Precious wanted to try the chicken franchise but also wanted to try the roma abruzzi cream sauce, The waitress offered to bring some as a side, and it was truly some of the best red cream sauce we've ever tried. We plan to get a quart on the way out of town when we head home. We dipped our bread in it, poured it over our pasta side, and fought over who got the most for leftovers. The chicken française was truly wonderful. I've never had this dish before. I expect we'll be having it again before we leave town. I always like to try the eggplant parmigiano. My only complaint was I would have liked some garlic somewhere in the dish, but I'm not complaining. I enjoyed it and have plenty for lunch tomorrow. We shared a half order (2 pieces) of the house speciality abruzzi bread appetizer which was wonderful. More than a half order and we would have been too full to eat our entrees. Excellent crusty bread came with the meal and was served with a delightful house herbed olive oil. It had a spice or herb I could not place, but Precious said it was anise. I don't know but it was good. I was thoroughly impressed by our dining experience tonight. Bravo! All five stars earned.

My husband had Chicken Parmesan with angel hair pasta and house salad. Portion was very generous. The fresh bread was excellent... I had special which was shrimp scampi served over your choice of pasta. I have to say it was the best scampi I ever had and again a big portion.. House dressing on salad was delicious.and lettuce was fresh. A family friendly atmosphere added to meal. A Great Find!

This place was super nice and my meal was great. I had the pasta primavera with added grilled chicken. My father had fried zucchini and she crab soup, my mother had the buffalo chicken pizza. Everything was great and I would go back there again and again. This is our new favorite Italian at the beach!

Pastaria gets three stars only because the service was so good! Meal started off with a basket of stale bread ... Same comment from all the baskets at our table of about 15. I had the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp, worst ever. The lettuce was limp the shrimp was cold with no flavor. I must say I did like their take on the dressing though, it was good. I was all set to get a dessert but the meal was so bad I did not want to put out more money for one.

Awesome! The house gorgonzola salad dressing is amazing. Enjoyed a lovely evening with my family and everyone of us was raving about our meals. Kids loved the pizza! The homemade bread is delish, definitely dip it in the oil! Will be back on my next beach vacation.

Well, it has been about a year since the last time my family and I have been back at Pastaria811. And it is still as good as ever! This time around I stuck with the same meal, the Ravollini. It was fantastic! Again! My family got the Chicken Francaise and the Caprese Salad. Both of them were quite delicious. This restaurant is definitely a must if your looking for good Italian food in Pawley's Island.

My favorite Italian place on the beach. I've been eating here since they where in litchfield. The new place in PI is great, nice building and good parking. The menu has a variety of pasta and pizza to choose from. I would suggest the raviolini or shrimp and or scallop linguine. The salad and bread is something I was love with the house dressing. Each meal is around $20, nice place to take the date or the family. Dress up or casual. You will not be disappointed eating here.

Worst service and sub-par pizza. We were sat then totally ignored for 10 minutes. I finally asked the hostess for help and she had to get us our drinks before they could find a server to take our order. The pizza crust was undercooked, so it was still soggy yeast under the cheese. Gross.

We've eaten there twice in the last month and both times our service was very good; the meal was very pleasing and fulfilling; and we left very happy. I had the salmon stuffed with crabmeat with a pesto sauce. The bread that is brought to the table is really good and as always the alcohol is where they make their money. I would recommend this restaurant to most people.

In the off season we eat here at least 3-5 times a month. The Abruzzi tomato dishes remind my Italian wife of her great grandmothers simple northern & central Italy cooking. The eggplant parm has never been greasy, red clam sauce has always been perfect. Pasta has only been a little overcooked once. Our son always has pizza & we usually get an extra for leftovers. Value, quality & taste. Only reason not 5 * is it gives them something to shoot for. The only pizza/italian I would give a AAA Diamond to. BTW not related to or compensated for any review good or bad you'll see with my name

Italian is my favorite type of food so trust me when I say I've tried it just about everywhere! This place was absolutely wonderful. We went with another couple and ordered two pizzas to split and two pasta dishes with seafood. Everything was so delicious we all left stuffed. Just thinking about it now makes my stomach growl. Definitely go, you won't regret it.

This was by far the worst dining experience I have had in over 10 years of vacationing in Pawleys Island. Waitress was rude an d kitchen was very slow - over 1 hour wait on our food and it came out all separately with no explanation. Wait for drinks, only one bathroom stall and couldnt get extra napkins either....Won't be back!!!,

While in S.C. we stopped in and I'm glad we did some of the best Italian food we have had and the Pizza forget about it the best and we are from New York. Price's very reasonable. Like some other reviewers have said they are a busy place. But your food come's quickly and they have a nice bar. Friendly Service. We will be going back for sure.

This was one of our favorite Pawleys Island Restaurants until a recent visit on June 10, 2014. Our waiter was a very young man, maybe all of 16 years. The antipasto was served to our party of 3 to share with no serving utensils or salad dishes. As we took the first bites of the appetizer, we were asked to place our main dinner orders. We asked if the pasta sides, included with our entrées, could be replaced with a side of vegetables. We were told, yes no problem. Asked what was available we were told a combination of squash and cucumbers and maybe carrots. Our entrées were served with a very small serving of mixed vegetables. Much to our surprise when we reviewed our check, we noticed we were charged an extra $2.75 for each vegetable serving in addition to the price of the pasta not served. When we inquired why the charge, the owner's wife stated, "Veggies were much more expensive than pasta". No mention was made regarding the extra charge when ordering. So, for a very small sized serving of chicken parmesan (approximately 3 inches round) we were charged $11.95 plus the $2.75 for the vegetables. The attitude of the owner's wife told us she really didn't want or need our future business. We have eaten here approximately 6 or 7 times in the past 3 months. Too bad we will not return. We will pass this experience on to many of our local friends. Now we understand why most of the tables were empty.

Tried this while vacationing at the beach (and needing a vacation from our vacation seafood!). I could have just eaten the bread for the whole meal and if I based my rating only on the bread, I would have given them 5 stars without hesitation! I had the lasagna and my only disappointment was that the ground beef in the dish was too dry...it was not mixed with sauce. After dissecting it, thing the whole thing appeared to have been baked with little to no sauce and then sauce added on top and around the edges at the end. It made it kind of dry. Not being an Italian food expert, maybe that is the way it is supposed to be made. The salads that came with the meal were served with what looked like stewed tomatoes instead of just simple small tomatoes cut up or cherry/grape tomatoes and I couldn't wrap my mind around that. Aside from the odd tomato topping, the salad was pretty darn wimpy all in all. I have been in many other Italian restaurants that had much better salads before the meal (however, I realize you don't go to an Italian restaurant for the salad). We WILL try this one again, just had a few surprises on first visit.

Went there tonight based on recommendation of yelp reviews. Disappointed. Started off with a faulty pager. Waited extra 10 min before walking inside when saw people who arrived after us getting seated. Would've thought the hostess would come outside and see if we were there. Service was slow.Waited almost 10 min for glass of wine and a server to come. Food was mediocre. I ordered Chicken Marsala which was good. My husband ordered the fish special - triggerfish. Was ok. Not much to it. Overall, this would be a great family restaurant, but not fine dining. There are much better restaurants in the area.

I am fortunate to live close to the Pastaria 811 and it is one of my all time favorite restaurants. Food and service are always superb. Prices are moderate. The staff is very friendly and the owner Dave is very visible to staff and customers. Dave makes the sauces too. Last night my wife, daughter and grandson dined on salad and wonderful pizza. Pastaria offers both abruzzi style and thin crust pizza with a variety of toppings. Last night we had spinach and eggplant toppings.. Pasta dishes are wonderfully prepared including seafood. There is usually several fish entrees. There is even a veal stew which is superb. Pastaria is open for lunch and dinner, is closed on Sundays. Pastaria is a local hidden gem to the Pawleys Island area, located in the back Litchfield Exchange. There is only a small sign in front on the marquis "ITALIAN RESTAURANT'. So mostly locals go there. When in any town I always try to find the restaurants where the locals frequent. Our 10 month old grandson loved the pizza, he is quite a little gourmet already. Try it and you will come back again and again as we have done. Well done Dave.

So glad to see 811 Pastaria is still doing well at its new location there on Highway 17. We walked in about 30 minutes before closing time, and were treated to the friendly service we remembered, and the delicious food. 811 makes its own sausage, so I always choose a dish with that in it. This time it was the Penne Ziti a la Vodka, penne and generous chunks of that housemade sausage in a tomato cream sauce with a splash of vodka. Big portion, but lunch was a distant memory so I finished the bowl. My date got the thin-crust 811 pizza. His only critique was that the chicken made it a little dry. We went for dessert, and as our waitress had warned us, the tiramisu evaporated without a trace. My chocolate layer cake - more of a heavy torte than a cake - was tasty, but full of pasta, I only had a few bites. They boxed up the other half of the pizza and the cake. The cake was demolished by the teenage girls back at the house, and the pizza became breakfast food the next morning. See you next time, 811!

When I think of a restaurant in Pawleys Island that may have been overlooked over the years if you didnt know anything about this is it. Used to be hidden behind a shopping center with only a sign and no advertisements other than word of mouth, you would be shocked. Of course, now the have moved to their new, larger, and on the main highway location. Upon walking in it is very clear that this place is busy, I am hard pressed to think of a time I have been and they haven't been busy. You are instantly hit with the smell of the best, non-chain Italian food at the beach. From the anti-pasta salad to the best New York style pizza I have had outside of New York. The staff is nice and friendly and very verse in the menu with the ability to tell you everything you may like. Again, simply one of the best locally owned places at the beach and one that I recommend to anybody looking for a nice Italiano meal!

This is a very good Italian restaurant! The antipasto is a meal in itself and is absolutely amazing. I enjoyed eggplant parm with pasta while my husband had a baked ziti dish. He was slightly disappointed because he originally ordered a steak and was told they didn't have any available however the pasta dish was great. We will make this a family favorite restaurant!

Been in Myrtle Beach area for five days and the food here has been 5 times better than any other restaurant we've been too. The Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair was the best I've ever had. I can say the same about their hand-made canolies. The supreme pizza was a great complement as well. Will definitely be back next time we are in MB. Be sure to get here before 2 pm for lunch and after 4 pm for dinner. Yuuuuuuum!

Wow. Having eaten at many a fine (and not so fine) italian restaurant over the years, I must say Pastaria rates right down near the bottom of the list. The waitress lacked personality (seemed more interested in when her next smoke break was than taking care of her customers). My wife's marsala my son's fettucini alfredo and my chicken marinara dish were all nothing short of poor quality italian fare. The only nice thing I can think to say about the place is that it was a fairly pleasant looking italian restaurant. Too bad every other aspect of it did not live up to its appearance.

This food at Pastaria 811 is incredible! The absolute best Italian food I've ever had. After one meal here, you'll never go back to a chain restaurant for your alfredo again. As far as atmosphere goes, it's okay. Not fancy, but very comfortable. The service is great, and it's located in a building that also houses various art classes. What's not to love?

This place is very hard to find. Its in the litchfield exchange plaza going around the corner all the way in the back. The pizza and salad was pretty good. It was delicious! I went with a friend of mine and she got a chicken pasta with a salad and very much enjoyed it! I got Bob's pizza and except for the giant chunks of tomatoes, I enjoyed it. It was only about $25 total. I couldn't believe it. I would definitely go back.

Great pasta (enough for Second Dinner, my fellow grazers) and great service.

Yuuuuuuum!

Best lunch deal anywhere around! For $6.95 you get a salad (amazing), entree & side of pasta. Only minus is if you don't get there early, expect parking issues & a wait. A great bargain!

Food was good, no complaints. A little difficult to find, google maps took us to the wrong place and when we called the restaurant to get the location the girl on the phone had no idea where she was!

This place is very hard to find. Its in the litchfield exchange plaza going around the corner all the way in the back. The pizza and salad was pretty good. My son (4years old) ate the whole plate of salad. He loved the pizza. The pasta was not that bad. Prices are reasonable, and the service is good...

Nice restaurant. Nothing spectacular. Just a good restaurant with friendly service and a good pizza. My kids enjoyed the spaghetti and pizza. Good selection of toppings. Very kid friendly. The worst part is trying to find the place. Luckily someone showed us.

It was delicious! I went with a friend of mine and she got a chicken pasta with a salad and very much enjoyed it! I got Bob's pizza and except for the giant chunks of tomatoes, I enjoyed it. It was only about $25 total. I couldn't believe it. I would definitely go back.

The lunch specials are a great deal. For $6.95 you get Bread, a house salad and a main dish. It's not the best italian food I've eaten but you its not bad either. I don't think I'd go for dinner with the higher prices but, the lunch is a great deal. Waitress was also very nice.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
